Ten years ago, my future was focused on supporting mental health, not beauty or braids. As a Nigerian-born uncle who moved to Australia in 2013, my mission was about helping people thrive—never imagining I’d someday help them feel seen through their hair.
Whenever I traveled, I returned to my niece, Cherish, with a suitcase full of hair—our ritual, and my way to say: I see you. I care. I celebrate you.
A Happy Accident Becomes a Movement
One trip, I unintentionally purchased more hair than I needed. That mistake sparked a new idea: maybe I could share a few packs with others. That’s how this journey began—with a desire to create something meaningful from an unexpected moment.
Why “Aunty Cherish”? Culture, Community, Connection
Naming the brand was about honor and family. While I’m a man, “Aunty” means respect, kindness, and care in our culture—a legacy I wanted to embody. “Cherish” came easily: the heart of this journey and the inspiration behind every strand.

With zero experience in hair, I showed up with love—and a powerful drive to support my sisters, mum, aunties, and every woman who cares for her hair. I listened, learned, made mistakes, and turned hair selling into heart-centered service. For me, this was never about profit. It was about pride, belonging, and representing us authentically.
